Mario Tubo grigia interpreta la lampada da poltrona attraverso una struttura mobile e una sorgente luminosa completamente orientabile. Una base triangolare e una lunga asta formano un sistema essenziale che sfrutta equilibrio e movimento per avvicinare, allontanare e posizionare la luce senza ricorrere a regolazioni elettroniche.
La struttura può essere inclinata con una leggera pressione del piede e sollevata con un dito per riportarla nella posizione desiderata. L'asta può inoltre essere inserita nella base in entrambi i versi, mentre il portalampada magnetico può essere collocato liberamente lungo la struttura. In questo modo è possibile intervenire direttamente sulla posizione della sorgente luminosa. La finitura grigia sottolinea le geometrie e il carattere contemporaneo della lampada.
Un doppio aggancio magnetico consente di regolare anche il faretto: il primo lo unisce al portalampada, mentre il secondo si collega alla sfera magnetica in dotazione. Il faretto può così essere ruotato e inclinato per concentrare il fascio luminoso esattamente dove serve. Mario Tubo è particolarmente adatta accanto a una poltrona o a un divano, dove ogni regolazione della luce può essere effettuata con pochi gesti.
